Nick Gozik, dean of global education at Elon University, recently served as a facilitator for a two-day workshop in the Philippines organized by the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), the organization that administers the Fulbright Program in the country. The workshop focused on expanding and strengthening study abroad opportunities for U.S. students in the Philippines as part of Fulbright Philippines’ broader efforts to enhance educational exchange and institutional collaboration.
The event builds on a previous workshop held in August 2024, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and Fulbright Philippines. During that earlier program, Gozik was invited by the U.S. Department of State to serve as an expert speaker on the internationalization of higher education, sharing best practices and strategies for building sustainable global partnerships.
As dean of global education, Gozik oversees Elon University’s nationally recognized global engagement initiatives, including study abroad programs, Study USA, and international partnerships. Elon University currently ranks first in the United States for study abroad participation, according to the Open Doors report published by the Institute of International Education.
“I was honored to collaborate with Fulbright and colleagues from universities across the Philippines,” Gozik said. “In addition to sharing practices from the United States and exploring opportunities to strengthen cross-country collaboration, I appreciated the chance to learn from others and gain insights that will help inform our work in other global contexts.”
Gozik is a two-time Fulbright grantee, having represented Elon University in Taiwan through the International Education Administrators Seminar and in Bulgaria through a similar program. He also serves on Elon’s Fulbright Campus Committee and coordinates the university’s partnership with U.K. Fulbright.
“These initiatives demonstrate Elon’s long-standing commitment to the Fulbright Program,” Gozik said. “As a consistent producer of Fulbright grantees, Elon’s engagement aligns closely with our mission to prepare students for lives of global purpose and meaningful connection.”
